Finnieston

If you’re looking for a good location near to the University of Glasgow and the University of Strathclyde, Finnieston could be your best bet. Ideal for students of the University of Glasgow, the area is situated between the main shopping district, Kelvingrove Park and the River Clyde. Sauchiehall Street is just around the corner, and is one of Glasgow’s main shopping and business streets meaning you’ll never be short of amenities should you need them. If you’re looking to see a show whilst in Glasgow, then in the area are the SECC and the SSE Hydro where most musical and entertainment events are held. Given its location to the University, the city centre and the numerous features of Glasgow’s entertainment scene, expect to pay higher rent prices when compared to other areas in the city.

Hillhead

Like Finnieston, Hillhead is located in Glasgow’s fashionable West End. The area is filled with delicious restaurants, quaint pubs and bars and has quick access to the main shopping districts in the city. On the other side of Kelvingrove Park, Hillhead is perfect for students of the University of Glasgow as it is just a few minutes walk away. As a result of its outstanding location, rent prices in Hillhead will be among the highest for a student in Glasgow. One could argue though that the minimal transport costs, numerous amenities on offer and plethora of students in the area offset the cost of rent in Hillhead.

Partick

Just down the road from Hillhead lies another excellently located area for students attending the University of Glasgow. With a plethora of supermarkets, shops and cheap eateries, it’s easy to see why Partick is a popular student area. Transport links are excellent for both the city centre and the University. You can grab an affordable place if you search early enough, as competition can be pretty high!

Anniesland

Anniesland is a blend of good location for the University of Glasgow while also on the doorstep of the city’s West End hub. It is slightly further out than Hillhead and Finnieston but don’t let this deter you as the area has a lot going for it. Firstly, the rents are cheaper which is a big bonus for university students. Secondly, it’s only 15 minutes away by bus, or 40 minutes for the ambitious walker. It’s great for supermarkets with an Aldi and Morrisons in the area. There are some great pubs and local shops too should you fancy a drink with your friends or need anything in particular.

City Centre

Students of all universities get drawn to the city centre every year. Expect to pay some of the highest rents you can in the city, but on the flip-side you will have all of the benefits of city centre living. These include all of the main shops, supermarkets, transport hubs, bars and restaurants all on your doorstep.

Denistoun

Just off the city centre lies the student hub of Denistoun. Preferable for students of Glasgow Caledonian University and the University of Strathclyde, the area is excellently located. It’s got the student favourite, Lidl, as well as some excellent cafes and shops. Rent prices can vary, though they will largely be on the average to upper scale of price as a result of its handy location and good transport links.
