Popular Student Areas of Leeds

Hyde Park

Hyde Park is many students’ number one pick when it comes choosing an area to live in. It’s right between Headingley and the city centre which suits almost every requirement necessary. The area is filled with student house shares and private student accommodation.

The area is perfect for the University of Leeds and the city centre. In fact you’ll be at the university within 5 minutes by bus and only 20 minutes by foot. A wide range of amenities on offer in the area have made Hyde Park perhaps the most popular area in Leeds for students..

Headingley

Similar to Hyde Park, there is a wide range of student accommodation available in the area of Headingley. Slightly further out from the city centre than Hyde Park, but bus routes do only take around 20 minutes to get into the centre so it’s still a very convenient area to be based.

Headingley offers a great range of bars, shops and restaurants in particular along the popular Otley Road. The area is well positioned for both the University of Leeds and Leeds Beckett University students so it enjoys a very varied and diverse student population which is great for the student buzz.

In fact Leeds Beckett University Headingley Campus is a few minutes walk away and the city centre and University of Leeds are both just a short bus journey away. The area is also home to the Emerald Headingley Stadium which is home to the popular Rugby League team the Leeds Rhinos.

Woodhouse

Woodhouse is the closest student area to the centre of town as well as the two central campuses of the University of Leeds and Leeds Beckett University. Tucked in between the city centre and Hyde Park it’s a short walk to the University of Leeds Campus and Students’ Union.

Perhaps not as pretty as some other areas in Leeds its location really stands out as it offers incredibly quick access to university and town while remaining competitive when it comes to rent. Woodhouse does offer you access to pubs, bars and restaurants and all the basic amenities you could need - but to be fair, for a proper night out you’re minutes from the city centre where most of the action will be taking place.
